Our story

Started in 2019. Registered as a CBO in 2026.

DORA began at village level and grew through community trust, practical learning, peer referral and partnerships with local leaders. Today the organisation works across Mityana District.

The work is rooted in a simple belief: communities already have knowledge and ideas. With the right skills, tools and opportunities, people can lead solutions that fit their own lives.

Vision

Resilient, self-reliant communities where everyone, especially vulnerable people, can enjoy their rights, dream and thrive with dignity.

Mission

Build inclusive communities rooted in equity and respect, where every voice is heard and everyone has equal opportunities.

Our approach

Community-led. Practical. Inclusive from the start.

DORA equips people rather than dictating solutions.

Community-led development

Communities identify challenges and participate in designing responses.

Train-the-trainer

A trained participant can share practical knowledge with at least ten neighbouring households.

Demonstration learning

People learn by seeing real briquette-making and farming practices in action.

Inclusion first

Adaptive tools, accessible sessions and peer mentors support meaningful participation.
